June Gardening Tips
We present our Gardening Tips for June.
- Fertilize Annuals and Perennials for early summer.
- Clean up fallen citrus fruit and debris to prevent pests.
- Replenish mulch around newly established plants.
- Cultivate the surface of mulch to prevent crusting and to allow water to percolate.
- Increase the frequency of fertilizer if vegetable or herb foliage pale or if fruit of flower production is low.
- Make sure newly installed lawns are watered frequently to establish root systems.
- Adjust lawn mower blade height for late-spring to summer months.
- Program irrigation controllers for summer.
- Control aphids, scale and mealybugs using integrated pest management techniques.
- Water container plants whenever soil has dried 1 inch below the surface.
- Remove dead flowers to encourage more blooms.
- Early summer is time to apply an organic granular rose and flower fertilizer.
- Complete pruning of spring flowering shrubs.
